Why You Should Join Print
JOIN THE CASTING SOCIETY OF AMERICA

The Casting Society of America invites all casting directors who meet the eligibility requirements to join the world's largest organization of casting professionals.

To join, you must have 2 years of verifiable ONLINE BILLING as a Casting Director. This means you have been a Casting Director for 2 years MINIMUM and have received television, film or theater billing as a Casting Director.

Former Membership Chairperson Jen Rudin Pearson said:

"I couldn't wait to join CSA. When I was a freelance casting director in New York City, there were many moments where I felt completely isolated and without a community. When I moved to Los Angeles over four years ago, I again felt isolated from other casting directors and immediately sought membership in CSA.

Upon joining CSA, I felt an immediate camaraderie and community that comes from the accessibility to meet and work with colleagues who all share daily common experiences and challenges. It's refreshing to be able to pick up the phone or email a colleague whether the question is urgent, simple or complicated.

Also with our fabulous web site, a member can post their resume, put out the word for an associate or an assistant and be able to email all members in one single instance. Indeed we are finally actively using and benefiting from all the tools of email and the internet to facilitate speedy communication."

Currently, the CSA is constantly working on improving the standing of casting directors within the entertainment industry. Sharing information and resources, we are striving to improve communication and support between all levels of casting professionals.  It is because of the work of CSA that casting directors are now represented in four Emmy categories by the Television Academy. In addition, we also have our annual Artios Awards which honors achievements in casting.

As a member you will have the opportunity to work with committees that deal with diversity casting issues, publicity, special event planning, industry issues and online technology. In addition, the CSA office provides producers and directors with your most recent contact information and can also be used as an address for your submissions if you are between offices.

The more you are involved, the more you will get out of being a CSA member. By becoming an active member you are given the opportunity to meet and work with some of the most respected casting directors and executives in the industry.
